Brooklyn Digital Foundry
Role: Digital Strategist
At BDF, I worked exclusively with purpose-driven accounts including The McNulty Foundation, Columbia University School of the Arts, and Michigan State University.
Columbia University, School of the Arts
Partnering with an interdisciplinary team at Brooklyn Digital Foundry I led the strategic work around building Columbia University School of the Arts’ digital hub — a nexus of practical information and a showcase of the School’s renowned artistic practices.
The School of the Arts is comprised of four departments offering degrees in film, theatre, sound arts, visual arts, and writing. The challenge was melding the distinct set of content and user needs unique to each department. Through user research, analytics assessments, and workshops with school leaders we crafted a flexible system that allowed for each department to shine in their own way; while enabling users to quickly find what they need — and keep coming back to do so.
The McNulty Foundation
The McNulty Foundation awards a $100,000 prize annually to individuals who are trying to address the world’s toughest challenges. This site needed to tell the story of over 40 laureates working across more than 256 countries.
Tasked with revamping an outdated site with significant navigation and user experience challenges, I lead user research, information architecture, and content strategy in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team at Brooklyn Digital Foundry.
Michigan State University
Michigan State University needed a partner to improve msu.edu which reached more than 2.5 million people every year. Collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team from BDF, I supported the User Research and Discovery phase of the project. This provided the foundation for a successful design and development phase.
MSU’s web presence was separated between brand content and utilitarian links for their users. Through user interviews, executed both in-person and online, we learned that a more seamless integration would improve the experience and increase traffic for MSU’s content.
